What is Name That City about

Back in my collegiate days a friend, Andrew, and I (Ari) would play a game. Andrew had a vast array of photographs of cities (mostly in North America), and we'd sit at his computer (or, sometimes, he'd email me a picture) and I'd, to the best of my ability, guess where it was. Sometimes the picture was a skyline, and sometimes it was very esoteric (a particular style of house). Sometimes, I'd get it; sometimes, I would not.

In any case, inspired by a recent movie-film where I totally called the setting (the movie itself wasn't noteworthy) and a new blog on the Atlantic I figured it was high time to move our little game to the internet, where we could play against each other—and the world. No hints, and nothing too obvious (where is the Statue of Liberty, again?). Just a picture—or maybe two or three.

Our first challenge? From me to Andrew, an aerial picture of this city, probably similar to the first one shown in the DVD, although this one has more giveaways than the movie. (I was only able to guess at the general location after the first photo, it took the second to narrow it down.)

 Take it away, Andrew.

Close, but not quite. Here are two more photos …
